When Coach Rick Gibson resigned as the OTHS Varsity Basketball coach, he did so with two goals in mind.
The first was to spend more time with his family. The demand and commitment of the position was waning on the time that Rick had to spend watching, teaching and playing with his own children. Two of which share his affinity for the hardwood. The problem was that although Rick knew that he had to step away from coaching the game at a high school level, he wasn’t ready to give up coaching altogether, which led him to his second goal. This particular dream was to figure out a way to better prepare the young basketball players in the O’Fallon community for the massive jump that comes along with transitioning from AAU/YMCA style basketball to high school basketball.
