Girl Scout juniors from troops at Central Elementary School and Laverna Evans Elementary School honored Seaman Second Class Milton Sollis at the October flag ceremony at Memorial Observance Corner. Sollis was the first O’Fallon resident killed in action during World War II.
O’Fallon Woman’s Club member Jan Todd said “I want to thank everyone, especially the Girl Scouts and their families for coming out today. We could not honor these men nearly as well without you. Families, we understand that this is hard taking time out of your weekend to do this. The Woman’s Club thanks you for your participation.”
The next ceremony will be on November 4 at 9 a.m., and the club will honor PFC Pat H. Lewis.
