Outdoorsman Lounge wins Miller Lite St. Clair County Bank Pool League 2016 Championship

O’FALLON – The Outdoorsman Lounge is now a seven-time champion following their win Sunday at the Miller Lite St. Clair County Bank Pool League Championships.

The final match-up, where Outdoorsman (1) went up against 5th Street (2), took place at TR’s Place in Belleville. The match began with the Outdoorsman team down 0-1, but the tables were quickly turned. Soon the O’Fallon based team found themselves up 9-3.

However, 5th Street (2) out of Dupo went on a streak, winning four straight games to bring the score up to 9-7. However, the Outdoorsman team would ultimately prevail, winning the championship 11-8.  Rusty Schmitt won the eleventh game, clinching the bar’s seventh straight annual victory.

Outdoorsman Lounge owner Gary Ahle said the match quickly became quite a match, despite looking like a potential blowout early on.

“We knew it woiuld be a tough match. You don’t get this far in the season without it being tough,” said Ahle.

The Miller Lite St. Clair County Bank Pool League is dedicated to the game of Bank Pool. also known as 3-5-8. The league currently consists of 12 teams in Belleville, Cahokia, Freeburg, New Athens, O’Fallon, Smithton, and Swansea.
