SHILOH – The District 85 School Board celebrated Shiloh’s young authors at their May board meeting. Five students were given Young Author Awards by their respective principals, and gave short presentations to the board about their books.
Shiloh Elementary School winners included second grader Molly Jane Mattheny and kindergartener Kylie Sullivan. Both girls shared their stories, awards and were proud of their medals. “We’re very proud of them,” said SES Principal Lori Murphy.
Shiloh Middle School winners included seventh graders Mary Rodriguez and Kate Wexell, and fifth grader Tyric “TJ’ Hawkins. Middle school books ranged from an adventure to catch a criminal in London to a lost queen who doesn’t know that she’s royalty, to a fantasy set in medieval times with elves, dragons, wizards and rogues.
