Accepting all patients: St. Elizabeth’s Hospital opens its doors

Patients were welcomed and the work of healing began at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon Saturday morning.

The first patient admitted was 83-year-old Daniel Thelen of Belleville, who had been admitted to St. Elizabeth’s for an open heart surgery earlier in the week. Thelen made the trip to the new hospital at 5:07 a.m., arriving by 5:26. He had nothing but wonderful things to say about the staff and the transition.
