The group hosting the meal is seeking donations in the form of food and volunteers for food preparation, service and cleaning. Items needed for the event include: Turkey (whole or breast), canned corn, canned green beans, chicken broth, assorted desserts, aluminum foil and saran wrap.
Food and monetary donations can be dropped off before Nov. 10 at Benedick Title Insurance – 1004 S. Lincoln Ave. Donations must be payable to the O’Fallon Community Food Pantry.
The meal will take place at the Fellowship Hall, which is in the rear of the church located at 520 East Highway 50 in O’Fallon.
The free event is being co-supported by the City of O’Fallon, O’Fallon Township and the Village of Shiloh. It is open to all residents of Shiloh, O’Fallon, Scott Air Force Base and surrounding areas.
Mayor Herb Roach said that these types of events are great for O’Fallon.
“I encourage all those who may be hungry, lonely or are not able to afford a Thanksgiving meal to come and enjoy a full stomach while spending time with others in the O’Fallon community,” Roach said.
Volunteers for the event will be pre-registered in advance and slotted for efficient utilization. Leftover food and cash donations will be given to the O’Fallon Food Pantry.
