A View of the Past – August 3, 2016

Aerial view of O'Fallon ca 1950 RESIZED

This week’s view is an aerial shot of downtown O’Fallon, looking east, from a 1950’s postcard.  In the lower right hand corner is the old Tiedemann Mill which stood were the gas station is now, on West State street just west of Oak.  The mill was destroyed by fire in 1972.  The second building up the street from the mill is the three-story Salvatore Cincotta Photography building (it was a chicken hatchery back then) at Oak and State — to help you get your bearings.
