A View of the Past – June 7, 2017

This week’s view is of the South Gate entrance at Scott Field, present day Scott Air Force Base, as it appeared in 1918 when it was an Army aviation training post. In the foreground was the Southern Railroad which is still there except now it’s the Norfolk Southern. The old headquarters building was near the water tower that can be seen in the distance. EDITOR’S NOTE: Last week we incorrectly stated that an O’Reiley Auto Parts is located next to the BP Station at S. Lincoln and Highway 50. We wanted to clarify that it is an Auto Zone. The error is ours and not Mr. Keller’s.

For more, stop by the O’Fallon Historical Museum, located at 101 West State Street. The Museum is open Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and by appointment.
