Alice Henrietta, nee Bieker, Scheibel, age 87, of O’Fallon, born July 17, 1928, in Barling, Arkansas, the youngest of nine children to Henry and Minnie, nee Yutterman, Bieker, passed away Wednesday evening, June 1, 2016, at home in O’Fallon, Illinois.

Alice moved to O’Fallon in 1950, where she raised her four children. She had attended St. Clare Church and St. Nicholas Church and was a member of the Altar Sodality. She was active in the community, volunteering as a den mother, girls’ softball coach, PTO officer at St. Louis High School in Hawaii, as a member of VFW Auxiliary and the Senior Citizen’s Club of O’Fallon and she enjoyed her card club friends. After earning her LPN degree in Hawaii, she worked for many years as an obstetrics nurse at Scott AFB, retiring in 1990. Alice liked being outdoors, crocheting, cooking, dancing, working puzzles and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Glenn Dzombar, whom she married November 2, 1944 in Phenix City, Alabama, and who died February 4, 1969; her second husband Cletus Scheibel, whom she married August 4, 1978, and who died August 3, 1979; two infant children, six siblings Ben, Otto, Rose, Helen, Cil, and Marie; and granddaughter Yvonne “Bonnie” Cacioppo.

Surviving are her four children Linda Lechner of Pinckneyville, Ill., Kenneth Dzombar of Virg., Barbara (Ron) Bright of O’Fallon, and Kevin (Carolyn) Dzombar of Iowa; ten grandchildren David, Daniel, Katie, Glenn, Lindsay, Kele, Jennifer, Patrick, Billy, and Christopher; many great-grandchildren, brother John (Marie) Bieker and sister Ann Sparks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to St. Nicholas Catholic Church Building Fund or BJC Hospice.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O’Fallon, and from 9:30 – 10:30 am, Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O’Fallon. The Senior Citizen’s Club will conduct a walk-through at 6:30 pm, Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O’Fallon, with Msgr. William J. Hitpas presiding. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
