Arthur Raymond Villhard, Sr., age 87, formerly of O’Fallon, born November 20, 1929 in O’Fallon, passed away  May 8, 2017 at St. Paul’s Home, Belleville, Ill.

Art was a graduate of O’Fallon Township High School, Class of 1948. He enlisted in the Navy and served in the ship supply section on the USS Bennington. He was a Korean War veteran and saw duty in and around Cuba, the Caribbean, and Italy. Art had retired as parts manager for Oliver Joseph Chrysler Dodge, where he was employed for over 40 years. A loyal member of American Legion Post 137 for over 60 years and VFW Post 805, his patriotism extended to numerous honor guard details and veteran support services. He managed the VFW’s Friday Fish Fry for 20 years. He was a model train enthusiast, and, along with his late wife, Mary Ann, enjoyed camping and fishing with their four children.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leroy Villhard, Lucille, nee Weisbrod, Smith, step-father Leroy Smith, wife Mary Ann, nee Pensch, Villhard, brother Robert L. Villhard and sister Betty Smith

Surviving are his four children, Richard Villhard of Belleville, Arthur Villhard, Jr. of Centreville, Ill., Kay Lynn (Anthony) Martinez of San Antonio, Tex., and Brian (Marcia) Villhard of O’Fallon; and grandchildren Jennifer, Jason, Janelle, Jacob Martinez, Joshua, Nathan and Connor Villhard, and Zachary Hall; and his special friend Jane Rogers, of Belleville, Ill., and her family.

Memorial donations are suggested to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 805, and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Monday, May 15, 2017 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O’Fallon. The VFW Post 805 will conduct a service at 6:30 pm, Monday, at the funeral home.

Funeral: Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the funeral home, with Rev. Christy Eckert officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at O’Fallon City Cemetery, O’Fallon, Illinois.
