Boys Golf takes third at Panther Classic, wins other matchups during week

The O’Fallon boys golf team started a busy week with the Metro East Co-Ed Challenge at Tamarack golf course on Tuesday, September 11.  

The boys and girls teamed up against five other area schools in a scramble format tournament. The Panthers shot 269 to win first place by 21 strokes. Logan Lowery and Brianna McMinn paired up to lead the effort with a 12 under par score of 59. The other top duos included Taylor Patterson and Chloe Davidson (68), Ethan Ourada and Elizabeth Henken (70), and Kyle Dismukes and Kelly Short (72).

The boys traveled to Cardinal Creek at Scott AFB on Wednesday to face Belleville East and Collinsville in a nine-hole match. The Panthers won the match with a 152. The top four scores included Logan Lowery (35), Ethan Ourada (37), Caden Cannon (38), and Taylor Patterson (42).  

The Varsity and JV teams traveled together to the Acorns in Waterloo on Thursday. The Panthers also won that nine-hole match with a 156. The top four scores included Caden Cannon (37), Logan Lowery (38), Taylor Patterson (39), and Josh Krneta (42).

The Panthers ended the week with their Panther Classic tournament at Tamarack on Friday. The Panthers finished with team score of 314 to earn third place in the 17 team tournament.  The team was just two strokes behind first place team Althoff (312) and second place team Edwardsville (313).  

The format took the top four scores on the front nine and top four scores on the back nine. The team score included Taylor Patterson (76), Logan Lowery (76), Ethan Ourada (80) and a combination of Kyle Dismukes (38 on back nine) and Caden Cannon (44 on front nine).

The OTHS boys golf team will be on the road all next week with matches at Legacy in Granite City on Wednesday and Sunset Hills in Edwardsville on Thursday.  They also play in the Dick Gerber Invitational on Friday and Centralia Invitational on Saturday.
