BELLEVILLE – While results for the Presidential race between Donald Trump and Joe Biden were not finalized when the Weekly had to go to press, local preliminary results were available.
The Fair Tax proposition appears to have been rejected with 97 percent of the vote being reported. Congressman Mike Bost won re-election against Raymond Lenzi with more than 60 percent of the vote with 97 percent reporting as of the time of publication.
With 93 percent reporting, Republican David Overstreet is defeating Democrat Judy Cates for a position on the Illinois Supreme Court.
All of the incumbent St. Clair County elected officials up for election defeated their challengers, with the exception of Republican Board of Review member Jim Wilson who lost to Democrat challenger Kinnis Williams Sr. by 2,457 votes after East St. Louis was counted..
Two new county board members were elected with no competition, Republicans Robert Wilhelm in District 4 and John Coers in District 12. Republican Rick Casey has won his race in District 29 against appointed incumbent Democrat John Waldron.
