Carl E. Pendegraft
January 23, 1937 – July 28, 2017

Carl E. Pendegraft, age 80, of Lebanon, born January 23, 1937 in Old Mines, Mo., passed away Friday morning, July 28, 2017, at Cedar Ridge Health & Rehab., Lebanon, Ill.

Mr. Pendegraft began his career at Circle Packing Co. in East St. Louis, where he worked for 17 years. He later was a truck driver for Landshire Inc., retiring in 1999 after 24 years. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O’Fallon. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, bowling, pitching horseshoes, tinkering in his garage, and creating welded yard ornaments. Carl was generous and helpful, never slow to lend a helping hand. He always loved their family pets, especially his dog Abby.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents Orville and Leona Pendegraft; great-grandson Jonah Watson; siblings Ervin, Lenny, and Juanita; brothers- and sisters-in-law Joseph and Stella Madura, Jeff and Helen Ismail, Steve and Agnes Klich, John Klich, Paul Duecker, Arthur Renth, Ralph Renth, Russel Renth, James McMillian, and Dennis Deutsch; and parents-in-law Stanley and Rose Klich.

Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years Teresa, nee Klich, Pendegraft,  whom he married June 5, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon;  children Christopher (Anne) Pendegraft, Jean Pendegraft, and Diann (Robert) Buirge. Also surviving are grandchildren Amanda (Joe) Watson, Keith Pendegraft, Ashley Buirge, and Adam Buirge; siblings Leatta (Don) Thornton, Russell (Geraldine) Pendegraft, Lou Jones, Lloyd (Sylvia) Pendegraft, Thelma (David) Hunter, Ethel (Al) Schaepperkoetter, Donnie Pendegraft, and Audie (Loretta) Pendegraft; sisters-in-law Bernice Duecker, Loretta McMillian, Frances Renth, Maryann (Joe) Klohr, Dorothy Renth, and Patricia Deutsch.

The family received friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Sunday, July 30, 2017 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 625 St. Nicholas Dr., O’Fallon, and from 9:00 – 9:45 am, Monday, July 31, 2017  at the church.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 am, Monday, July 31, 2017 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with Msgr. William Hitpas presiding. Burial followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lebanon, Ill.
