One suspect has been charged in connection to last week’s car chase that began in O’Fallon.

On Friday, August 31, 2018, the St. Clair County State’s Attorney issued the following charges against Dartayous L. White; 19 years old, of Cahokia, IL:

Possession Stolen Motor vehicle, Class 1 Felony
Aggravated Possession Stolen Firearms (2-5), Class 1 Felony Burglary to Auto, Class 3 Felony
2 Counts Aggravated Fleeing, Class 4 Felony

These charges stem from an incident which began as an interrupted burglary to an automobile on August 30, 2018 in the 100 block of Liberty Crossing O’Fallon, IL. White is alleged to have pointed a firearm at the victim when approached. The victim in this case obtained a description of the suspect vehicle and relayed that information to police. The suspect vehicle was located in O’Fallon and fled from O’Fallon Officers. It was again located on Interstate 64 at I-255. A subsequent vehicle pursuit resulted in the apprehension of White and two juvenile suspects after a single vehicle crash at Hwy 111 and Hwy 203 in Pontoon Beach.

The O’Fallon Police Department would like to thank the Belleville Police Department, Caseyville Police Department, Pontoon Beach Police Department and Illinois State Police for their assistance in bringing this case to a safe and successful conclusion.

White is currently being held in the St. Clair County Jail with a bond set at $150,000.

An investigation is still ongoing regarding the juvenile suspects. No further information will be released at this time.
