Cross Country teams continue to run strong through their seasons

The O’Fallon Boys varsity cross country team ran at Peoria’s Detweiller Park placing a solid eighth in a field of 63 teams on Saturday, September 15.

In their most competitive race by far this season the Panthers proved they can run with the best of Illinois teams. Sophomore Nick Edwards topped all O’Fallon runners with a 41st place in a blazing 15:34 time over three miles. He was the fourth best sophomore competitor in the race. 

Senior Will VanAlstine placed 47th clocking 15:36 also medalling in a field of over 400 runners. 

Will Ray ran a personal best 15:45 as the Panther’s third runner.  

Jacob Ramirez (16:02) and Brendan Krell (16:05) rounded out the top five for O’Fallon. Only 31 seconds separated the top five Panther runners, contributing to the team’s success. 

In the boys open race, Braden Gaab placed 32nd and Andrew Joyce placed 40th in a field of several hundred competitors.

In all, 25 O’Fallon boys ran personal best times at Peoria.

In the Girl’s varsity race, Sophomore Sofia Parker earned led the O’Fallon varsity girls with her 37th place finish in a time of 18:17. Freshman Julia Monson’s 46th place also earned her a medal.  

The team competed strong, placing ninth among 64 teams. Kaitlyn Walker, Emma Jordan and Peyton Schieppe were the other three scorers for the Lady Panthers.
