Stellar students continue to impress at O’Fallon Township High School.  For the month of September, seniors Jake Delange and Annie Roberts stand out, earning themselves the title “Student of the Month.”

Their outstanding school involvement along with extracurriculars and community work, along with athletics, secured their spots for this month.

Delange is heavily involved in JROTC, which includes his Commander position that also extends into the Kitty Hawk Air Society. In school, Delange partakes in Math Team as well as Robotics Team. On the athletic spectrum, he is a member of the varsity wrestling team.

Delange stays busy outside of school.  He is an Eagle Scout, the coach of a special olympics bowling team, plays the organ at his church, and volunteers in many community service events through his church. During the summer, he works at the O’Fallon Parks and Recreation.

Despite his hectic schedule, Delange maintains a remarkable 4.15 grade point average.

Roberts’ resume is equally impressive. Her school activities include Friends of Rachel, Athletic Leadership Council, Student Leadership Team, Math Team, Chief Executive of Robotics Team, and Vice President of German Club. Exhibiting great academics, she is in National Honor Society and German Honor Society. Roberts is on the OTHS Cross Country and Lacrosse Teams as well.

“I felt very honored and thankful to be chosen. Many of my friends were also nominated, so I know the competition was fierce,” says Roberts.

Off school grounds, Roberts keeps busy volunteering her time at some of her favorite places. She works with youth as a Camp Independence Counselor and spends time at the Children’s Garden, the O’Fallon Youth Committee, and has volunteered at Missouri Botanical Garden for the past four years. Over the summer, Roberts worked as a research intern at the Shaw Nature Reserve.

OTHS faculty members pick the Students of the Month based on four key aspects: academics, school activities, leadership, and community service.  Knowledge, hard work, and selflessness are perfect ways to describe Delange and Roberts, making them ideal for the September Students of the Month.
