O’FALLON- Board President John Wagnon announces his resignation from the D90 Board due to his family’s relocation out of state. John was elected to the District 90 Board of Education in April, 2013 and was elected Board President in 2015. During his service, President Wagnon led the team of Board members in their work of governance, policy guidance and Board-level oversight of District 90. He leaves behind a legacy of strong leadership as he consistently led with a positive and supportive approach, and respected the voices of his fellow Board members, staff, administration, D90 families, students and community members. Among many achievements during President Wagnon’s tenure, the Board worked to restore financial health, reduce class sizes, update curriculum, renovate school buildings with secure entryways and technology, negotiate contracts with staff, and prioritize professional learning for Board members. President Wagnon and colleagues were selected to present at statewide conferences several times, and he achieved the Master Board Member designation from the Illinois Association of School Boards.
School board members are unpaid volunteers who serve on a team of seven for the benefit of the students and community residents. Board members dedicate a significant amount of their own personal time to the District, something that is often overlooked. District 90 thanks John Wagnon for his years of service and wishes the Wagnon family the best in their relocation. John’s last D90 Board meeting will be in July. Beginning in August, Vice President Becky Drury will step into the role of the Board President and will lead the Board’s process to fill the vacancy. Below is a form applicants may use to be considered for the vacant position on the Board of Education. The remaining six Board members will review applications and interview finalists and will select one to fill the remainder of Mr. Wagnon’s term which runs from August 2020-April 2021.
