O’FALLON – No injuries were reported at a late evening fire that destroyed a home on Dartmouth Drive last week.
The fire, which began around 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, consumed most of the home located at 209 Dartmouth. A mother, Amber Pearson, and her two boys, ages 15 and 6, were home at the time of the blaze. They escaped along with the family dogs.
While the fire is being investigated, Pearson said the fire started in a fuse box located in the garage. Fire Chief Brent Saunders said he was working with the State Fire Marshall to determine the cause of the fire.
Pearson and her sons rent the home. The property is owned by Michael and Ladonna Feldhake. The Pearson family is staying in a hotel until they can find another home. According to the O’Fallon Fire Department, they did have renters insurance.
There was siding damage to the neighboring home from the heat of the fire.
O’Fallon Firefighters were on scene until around 2:30 a.m. making sure the flames were all extinguished.
