Belleville, IL – The Gateway East Artists’ Guild (GEAG) provides access to artistic expression in many ways. Not only does the guild offer workshops and artist showcases, but at most monthly meetings, award winning artists demonstrate their craft. Beyond that, you can even find some of the members causally creating their art during the meeting. For example, at the November meeting, while local artist Heather Woodson, of Wentzville, MO, was demonstrating her ceramic creation process, GEAG member, Michael Anderson, was sketching away on his IPAD (see attached photos). He quickly drew Heather during her presentation. Consider it a case of “Art-ception,” art being created of an artist creating art.
The GEAG will hold its annual holiday party and art exhibit on Wednesday December 5th, 2018 at the PSOP/SWIC building in Belleville. Beyond a full celebratory meal, members and their guests will showcase their art from the past year in hopes of winning prizes. A holiday card contest will be held along with the artist of the year being awarded.
The next public meeting of the Guild will be January 2nd, 2019 at the PSOP/SWIC building in Belleville. Take the opportunity to visit, see, experience, and learn more about art and local artists. The meeting begins at 6pm.
The Guild continues to have an exhibit called Gateway East Goes West at Framations Art Gallery, 218 North Main Street, St. Charles, MO. The Gallery’s website is www.framations.com. The display will run through November 29th.
