Gomric selected to be named St. Clair County State’s Attorney

BELLEVILLE – St. Clair County Board Chairman Mark Kern plans to appoint Belleville attorney Jim Gomric to the county State’s Attorney position at Monday evening’s County Board meeting.

The proposed appointment appeared on the agenda for the January 28, 2019, St. Clair County Board meeting. If confirmed by the Board, Gomric will be replacing Brendan Kelly, who stepped down earlier this week after Illinois Governor JB Pritzker nominated him to head up the State Police, as the O’Fallon Weekly was the first to report.

Gomric previously worked in the State’s Attorney’s office from 1995-98 and has been in private practice since then.

Gomric is the brother to St. Clair County Assessor Jennifer Gomric-Minton and St. Clair County Board Member Steve Gomric. He is married to 20th Circuit Associate Judge Julia R. Gomric.
