Harold Culp Jr.

Harold Patrick Culp, Jr., age 92, of O’Fallon, formerly of Peoria, Ill., born November 19, 1924 in Gillespie, Ill., to Harold Austin Culp and Margaret Daley Culp, passed away Sunday morning, March 5, 2017 at Swansea Health & Rehab Center, Swansea, Ill.
Mr. Culp moved from Peoria to O’Fallon 17 years ago. He retired in 1986 from Caterpillar Corporation where he worked as a timekeeper. Harold was a loyal Cubs fan and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He was a talented table tennis player, winning many trophies and accolades over the years. Having seen the Cubs win the World Series, Harold was able to die a happy man.

Surviving are his six children, Patrick Culp, Nancy (Jerry Hunsel) Culp, Cheryl (Steve) Zielinski, Frank (Renee) Culp, Ronald (Sherry) Culp, and Christine (Michael) Smallberger; daughter-in-law Grace “Suzi” Ogle; brother Carmen “Babe” Culp. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and his dear friend and long-time loving companion, Sidney Nickerson.
Mr. Culp was preceded in death by his beloved wife Goldie Mae Mullen Culp, whom he married May 3, 1951; his son Edward Culp; and his parents.
Funeral: Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 12, 2017, at The Cross Baptist Church, 4201 Edgewater Dr., Pekin, Ill., with Rev. Jay Arnold officiaiting. His cremated remains will be placed at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wolfersberger Funeral Home in O’Fallon.
