Hockey Panthers defeat Columbia, headed into championship series

O’FALLON – The Panthers are headed into the MVCHA Championship Series after sweeping Columbia this past week.

Game One of the MVCHA 2A semifinals between O’Fallon and Columbia was a spirited contest from start to finish. The first period was an even match up on the ice, where after one period of the play, we had a scoreless game, with O’Fallon out shooting Columbia 5-3.

As the teams were heading to ice for the second period, the Panthers found their fire and took their game to the next level. O’Fallon came out shooting in the second period, as the Panthers scored five goals and only surrendering one goal to Columbia. Captain Hayden Ourada, who was assisted by Jack Wallace and Graham Sudduth, got the scoring started. After Columbia tied the game at one, Sudduth scored the go-ahead goal off a nice pass from Wallace. The Panthers would pounce again just a few minutes later when Wallace put one in the back of the net thanks to Sudduth. As the period was winding down, O’Fallon scored not one, but two goals in a 12 second span. Aaron Turner made a nice pass just inside the offensive
