Passed away August 5, 2017

James C. Dunbar, Jr., age 90, longtime resident of O’Fallon, died Saturday morning, August 5, 2017 at his granddaughter’s home in Shiloh, Ill.

Jim was a carpenter by trade and a member of Carpenters Local 480 for 60 years. He was a member of Ainad Shrine Temple, past president of the clown unit, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Southern Illinois, and 50-plus year member of Masonic Lodge. He formerly attended Shiloh United Methodist Church and Christ Church.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents James and Irene, nee Moss, Dunbar; his wife Mildred, nee Guttersohn, Dunbar; his children Curt Dunbar and Kathleen Gross, and brothers Herbert and Donald “Gene” Dunbar.

Surviving are his grandchildren Lisa (Christopher) Barber of Shiloh, Tim (Jessica) Dunbar of Swansea, Ryan (Samantha) Gross of Fairview Heights, Chad (Jaclyn) Gross of O’Fallon, and Lori Gross of Shiloh; his daughter-in-law Chris Dunbar of Shiloh, and son-in-law Martin Gross, of Shiloh; great-grandchildren Hannah, Emma, Tristan, Gabriel Barber; CJ and Caleb Dunbar, Ivana and Ian Nanthavong, Benjamin, Martin, Nicholas, Daniel, Catherine and Francesca Gross; and his sisters Joyce (Raymond) Cavins, Shirley Buddell, and Allene Dunbar.

Memorial donations are suggested to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or Family Hospice.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 11:00 am, Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O’Fallon.

Funeral:  Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor John Temple officiating.

Burial of cremated remains, to include military honors, will follow at O’Fallon City Cemetery, O’Fallon, Ill.
