John K. Rohleder
December 1, 1937 – February 13, 2017
John Karl Rohleder, 79, of O’Fallon Ill., born December 1, 1937 in Belleville, Ill., died Monday, February 13, 2017 at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, surrounded by his family.
John was a life-long resident of O’Fallon. He worked as a banker for 46 years at First National Bank, later First Bank of O’Fallon. He was a 1955 graduate of O’Fallon Township HS, a graduate of Belleville Junior College in 1957 and SIU Carbondale in 1959. He was active in the First United Methodist Church of O’Fallon throughout his life until his retirement, serving on the administrative board, the building committee and as treasurer. He also was a long-time member of the Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his father, Karl Joseph Rohleder, his mother Helen (nee McIntosh), his sister Mary Kempfer, and his son Scott Douglas Rohleder.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Vivian (nee Margenthaler), daughter Linda (Richard Pillar) Rohleder of Salisbury Mills, N.Y., daughter Debra (Phi) Nguyen of Beaverton, Ore., and son David (Julia) Rohleder of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren Tyler Nguyen, Kate Nguyen, Sean Rohleder, and Jack Rohleder; and niece and nephew Kim Kempfer and Bill Kempfer.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the First United Methodist Church of O’Fallon. The family encourages registration as an organ donor because John was a recipient of a donated organ that gave him many additional years of life. Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 PM, Wednesday March 1, 2017 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O’Fallon, and from 9:30 – 11:00 am, Thursday, March 2, 2017, at O’Fallon First United Methodist Church.
Funeral: Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday March 2, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, 504 E. Hwy 50, O’Fallon, Ill. Burial will follow at O’Fallon City Cemetery.
