Judith V. Gruber
March 17, 1940 – March 27, 2017
Judith grew up in Collinsville and graduated from Collinsville High School. As a young adult, while working as a civil service secretary for Military Airlift Command at Scott AFB, she met her future husband, Leroy Gruber, a career Air Force officer. She supported him in his military career and his volunteer efforts with the area Lions’ Club. They lived in O’Fallon for over 30 years before moving to Meridian Village in Glen Carbon in 2011. Judith enjoyed reading, watching television, visiting the St. Louis Zoo and Forest Park. She helped to create wonderful memories for her children by celebrating holidays together with family and spending time with her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lieutenant Colonel LeRoy F. Gruber, USAF (retired); and her parents Roy and Ruth, nee King, Fulton.
Surviving are her son Scott (Mary Jo) Gruber of Troy, Ill., and daughter Penny (John) Lee of Chatham, Ill., her seven grandchildren Joseph, Aaron, Trey, and Presley Gruber; and Tyler, Thomas, and Kayla Lee.
