golf-1073465 RESIZEDO’FALLON – The OTHS Girls Golf team has been a force on the links all season long, and as we advance deeper into October and the pressure continues to mount, the ladies have also upped their play.

The Panthers opened postseason play in similar fashion to how they competed on the links during the regular season, turning in an impressive team performance in winning the IHSA Regional by a dominating 23 strokes over second place and rival Edwardsville.

Junior Emily Marrs posted the top overall score on the afternoon, shooting a 74, two strokes ahead of silver medalist and teammate Alyssa McMinn’s 76. Fellow junior Natalie Meinkoth would shoot a 79, good for fourth place. Brooke Boatman would round out the Panther four with a score of 84.

The tournament provided a glimpse of what may come for this special O’Fallon team, who has enjoyed an enormous amount of success thus far in 2016. Counting this week’s results, the Panthers have won 11 tournaments.

O’Fallon then traveled north to Springfield to take place in the IHSA Sectional at Illini Country Club. The tournament concluded after this issue went to print.

JV Success – The JV Team was also busy on the links this past week, entering a pair of teams into a year ending tournament featuring eight area schools. The Panthers would find even more tournament success, taking first and second place on the day.

Ace – Junior Brooke Boatman captured a little bit of individual magic on the course last week, dropping a hole-in-one on the tenth hole at Yorktown Country Club. Boatman shot from the 120 yard pin during a practice round.

End of Year Fun – The Girls took on the Boys during the Ryder Cup matches on Thursday, beating them four points to one.
