The Lady Panthers recently traveled north to Rockford to take place in the Vikings Tournament, where they would be in for a tough time as six of the Top 10 ranked schools in the state were also present. But that didn’t stop the Lady Panthers from claiming the title.

The Panthers shot 6018 pins over six games to beat out Waubonsie Valley by 19 pins. The team was off to a hot start with a 1077 game and freshmen Natalie Heltne had a 253 game right out of the gate. Sophomore Lauren Tomaszewki also contributed to the team’s victory by shooting a 278 game and 707 series in the afternoon. Lauren won a second place medal for individual pin count of 1304. After the tournament finished Coach Garret Spencer had this to say, “Hopefully we can carry this momentum from this tournament into our final match and into the postseason.”

The Lady Panthers wrapped up the season taking on second place Collinsville. This match would decide who takes home the Southwest Conference title. The Lady Panthers came out rolling by shooting a 1011 beating Collinsville by three total pins. Game two was just as impressive as the first one as the Lady Panthers beat Collinsville by ten, increasing the lead to 13. The third game Collinsville got things rolling and eclipsed the Panthers by 13. In the end the Collinsville beat the Panthers in total pins 3158-3141.

Using the Peterson point system, this resulted in being tied, so it came down to individual points. Freshmen Natalie Heltne finished with a 267 in the third game, and had a 699 series winning all four of her points. Hayleigh Williams added a 639 series and also won all four individual points. With all the points totaled up, it resulted being split also. The total score ended up being 20-20. With the draw, O’Fallon’s new record improves to 10-2 and Collinsville goes to 9.5-2.5, resulting in the O’Fallon Lady Panthers winning the conference title.
