The Lady Panther varsity softball team remains undefeated this week after toppling Lebanon High School 8-0 on Monday.

Senior Allison Underwood got the scoring started for O’Fallon in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single. OTHS added to their lead in the second inning thanks to a two-run homerun from pitcher Addison Barnouski. With a 4-0 lead in the third, Barnouski tacked on another run in the fourth inning with an RBI double into left field.

Lebanon kept the Lady Panther offense at bay in the fourth inning but the scoring onslaught picked up again in the fifth inning. Junior Jordan DeRemer kicked the inning off with a single and Underwood followed up with a double. With runners on second and third, Barnouski picked up her fifth RBI of the night on a single driven into the gap in centerfield. Jade Williams added an RBI in the fifth inning for the final run of the game for O’Fallon.

Barnouski was on the mound for O’Fallon and had a no hitter heading into the final inning of play. Lebanon’s starting pitcher, Abigail Reinneck, picked up the Greyhound’s lone hit of the game.
With their win over Lebanon, the Lady Panthers improved their record to 5-0. Last Wednesday OTHS defeated Highland 8-1. Barnouski struck out six and hit two RBIs against Waterloo, while DeRemer, Ginger Huskey, Courtney Keller, Williams, and Underwood all added to the scoring with RBIs of their own.

Although the team has steam rolled their way through the competition so far this season, their perfect record is sure to be tested with a busy schedule this week. The Lady Panthers will play three games in the next three days. Including Monday’s victory against Lebanon, the Panthers will play four games in as many days. The three games remaining this week include Alton on Tuesday, Freeburg on Wednesday, and Collinsville on Thursday. All of the games will be played away.
