O’FALLON – A large crowd and gorgeous weather made this year’s Veterans’ Day ceremony a success.
At the O’Fallon Veterans’ Monument ceremony, students from the District 90 fifth grade music program and the St. Clare School Chorus started out the program with a medley of patriotic music.
This year’s remarks were given by Brigadier General Steven J. Berryhill, deputy director of operations and plans at U.S. Transportation Command. Gen. Berryhill
encouraged all of the attendees to honor and respect veterans, pointing out that there aren’t many veterans from World War II left and that time is precious.
“They are treasures. Seek them out and thank them for their service,” he said.
Berryhill has local ties. In 1971 and 1972, Berryhill’s father was assigned to Scott Air Force Base and his family lived on Princeton Drive. He attended Marie Schaefer Junior High School.
