O’FALLON – With spring in the air, that means summer is right around the corner. Children will be out of school in just a couple months, but then what? If decisions are still needing to be made for children to participate in activities over the summer, come check out the summer activity fair. The community has so many different programs that will keep the children entertained over the summer months, but sometimes it is difficult to choose which one. The O’Fallon Public Library hopes to make the process easier by hosting a summer activity fair. This year the event will be held on Saturday, April 6 in the Library Community Room, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
“The benefit of this fair is that parents can find out about summer activities now and conveniently enroll their kids. Having all of the information at their fingertips makes summer planing a lot easier,” Teri Rankin said, Youth Services Manger at the library.
So far the O’Fallon YMCA, O’Fallon Parks and Recreation, Sylvan Learning Center, O’Fallon School District 90 and the Metro Rec Plex have confirmed that they will have booths and information to hand out, on Saturday’s event. The library has three more organizations that could potentially have booths on Saturday, as well. Other information about churches and vacation Bible schools will also be provided. Along with handouts for summer activities in St. Louis.
“Sumer will be here whether we plan for it or not, so we might as well make plans! I love bringing information and people together. Hopefully it makes life easier for parents trying to keep their kids busy over the summer,” Rankin said.
