Many times, the beginning of a season is for coaches to find a winning formula to use for the rest of the season. But for Head Girls Golf Coach Chris Eddy, the early season spent tuning up his elite squad in an attempt to make them title contenders. So far so good.

The Panthers captured their third consecutive team title out of the gates when they won the Alton-Marquette Blast Off Girls Golf Tournament. The round was played at Spencer T. Olin Course in Alton.

O’Fallon’s core of junior superstars continued their strong early season play, with Emily Marrs, Natalie Meinkoth, Alyssa McMinn, and Brooke Boatman all finishing in the top seven individually, with Meinkoth grabbing the top spot at 3+ 36.

OTHS is now three for three at having individual tournament winners, with Alyssa McMinn winning both the Goalby-Haas and Mascoutah Invitationals.

McMinn would place second at 5+, while Marrs tied for fifth at 7+ and Boatman tied for seventh at 8+.

The Panthers finished a dominating 16 strokes ahead of second place Edwardsville at +23. Collinsville would place third with a plus 42.

The teams were unable to fit a full round into the tournament, as lightning forced this and several other outdoor events around the area to shut down early in favor of safety. The results are final and none of the missed time will be made up.
