Local Girl Scout completes Silver Award Project, building two little free libraries

O’FALLON – Caila Riggs has recently completed her Silver Award Project, creating and building two Free Little Libraries, including one in her neighborhood and one at Hinchcliffe Elementary School in O’Fallon.

Caila wanted to place a Free Little Library in her neighborhood because it is quite a distance from the local Library branch and she wants books to be accessible to everyone easily – inspiring them to read! She installed the Little Library she built right next to the neighborhood park, conveniently located near a bench under a shady tree. Caila chose the Hinchcliffe ES location for the same reason: elementary school is where a love of reading flourishes and by providing free books to students right outside the main school doors. Every student at Hinchcliffe will have the opportunity to nourish that love, even when school is not in session.

Caila provided maintenance materials to the school as well to keep the Hinchliffe Little Library looking great and will monitor both library inventories for some time to come. By putting books in the hands of children, Caila has ensured the education of future generations.
