Metro East Marching Classic adapts to poor weather and takes place Saturday

O’FALLON – This past weekend the O’Fallon Marching Panthers hosted their annual Metro East Marching Classic. Nineteen schools from the Greater St. Louis Area attended and took part in the competition.

The rain proved to be a struggle for the event, but in the end most of the bands competed outside on the field, with only the 3A bands being moved inside due to inclement weather. Unfortunately due to the relocation of the 3A bands, a grand champion could not be named due to the differences in judging scenarios.

In each class the winners are as follows:

• 1A-Mater-Dei High School

• 2A-Triad High School

• 3A-Collinsville High School

• 4A was a tie between Ft. Zumwalt North High School and Belleville East High School.

The rain seemed to have little effect on how the assembled bands enjoyed the event, with many of them stating that this was their favorite competition so far, and that they enjoyed attending the event despite Mother Nature bearing down on O’Fallon Township High School.
