O’FALLON – The United States Coast Guard Academy announced that Michael Hovick from O’Fallon, Illinois, has been recognized for superior academic achievement and leadership potential. He received an appointment to attend the United States Coast Guard Academy as a member of the Class of 2020.
Michael Hovick, who attends O’Fallon Township High School, will receive the official appointment at USCGA on June 27, 2016.
The United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, is an accredited college educating future Coast Guard officers and is the smallest of our nation’s five military service academies. The Corps of Cadets at USCGA represents the nation’s best and brightest students, ready to serve and lead their country. Admission to the Coast Guard Academy is highly competitive, with the most qualified applicants selected regardless of where they reside across the nation. In return for a commitment of military service five years beyond graduation, cadets receive a full tuition scholarship and monthly stipend. They complete college debt-free with a guaranteed position of leadership as a commissioned officer in the United States Coast Guard. All cadets graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Michael Hovick deserves congratulations for his achievement in receipt of this appointment, as well as encouragement for the challenging four years ahead of him.
Michael Hovick is the son of James and Julie Hovick of O’Fallon. The grandparents are John and Marilyn Hovick of Fairmont, Minnesota, and Ruth Ann Ritcher of O’Fallon.
