An O’Fallon family was involved in a tragic and fatal accident in southwestern Indiana on Tuesday, July 18.

Christina Bereda was driving on Interstate 70 with her three children in the vehicle. Christina slowed down in a construction zone near the Clay and Vigo County lines. A Grewal Transport of Canada semi-truck driven by Amritpal Singh of Quebec, Canada, failed to slow down behind her vehicle and slammed into the back of the her Honda Odyssey before crashing into another semi-truck. Christina was taken to Methodist Hospital and has since been released.  Her three-year-old son, Jordan, was taken to Riley Children’s Hospital where he is reportedly recovering well.

Although all of the children were properly restrained in the minivan, the force of the semi destroyed the rear end and the other two children, one-year-old Finley and five-year-old Brennan, were pronounced dead at the scene.

David Bereda, who is a 37th Air Force Division major and flight doctor, and his wife Christina, a family medicine physician, had recently moved to O’Fallon with their family and were new members of St. Clare Church. Fundraising pages have been set up by family friends for anyone that would like to help the Bereda family and express their condolences during this difficult time.
