This past Saturday the Panthers girl’s cross country team competed in the IHSA Class 3A Sectional meet in Quincy.  On the line was a spot in the IHSA Class 3A State Meet.

Eighteen teams competed for one of only five spots to advance. The top-seven girls demonstrated their determination and competitiveness overcoming several lingering injuries and fought to a fifth place finish earning a trip to the historic State Meet course this Saturday at Detwiler Park in Peoria.

The team was led by sophomore Sofia Parker finishing in 17th place, followed by junior Emma Jordan in 25th, freshman Julia Monson in 29th, juniors Sophie Wichlac in 39th and Kaitlyn Walker in 61st, rounding out the top-seven was freshman Peyton Schieppe and junior Kimberley Davenport.

Although only seven
girls compete; earning a trip to the state meet is a total team effort and wouldn’t be possible without the contributions of the remainder of the top-14, which includes senior Taylor Peck, sophomores Maddy Vorce, Kiley McElroy, Peyton Mutters, Brianna Berres and freshmen Olivia Anderson and Mary Kate Trelow.
