O’FALLON – If their performance this past weekend in the Heather Bradshaw invite is any indication, the O’Fallon girls tennis team can expect to do very well this season.

The Lady Panthers had two teams competing in the Varsity tournament. Team A (Varsity) finished in fifth place out of sixteen teams, with a record of 3-1 overall. Team B (Junior Varsity) finished in twelfth place out of sixteen teams, with a record of 1-3 overall.

Team A finished with wins coming against Prairie Ridge 4-1, Carbondale 4-1, and Chatham Glenwood 4-1. Team B finished with their lone, but very competitive win against Effingham 3-2. O’Fallon has a lot to look forward to and build upon this season.

O’Fallon also competed in a dual match at home on Thursday and dominated Highland with a convincing victory 9-0. The O’Fallon Lady Panthers outscored their opponent 72-3 in each of their Singles matches. Miley Brunner, Kate Macaluso, and Grace Lindsay shutout their opponents in both matches, 6-0, 6-0. Mackenzie Shelton, Katie Halwachs, and Mady Schreiber each allowed their opponents to score only a single point in both matches.

O’Fallon also had convincing wins against Highland in their Doubles matches. Outscoring their opponents 36-1. Brunner and Macaluso won their matches 6-0, 6-0. Lindsay and Schreiber won their matches 6-0, 6-1. Shelton and Halwachs also won their matches 6-0, 6-0.

Coach Erin Thoman felt exceptionally satisfied with her team and their effort this past week saying, “I was very proud of the girls and how they played. They had an awesome weekend!”
