stack-of-books-1001655 RESIZED   Did you know the library has 8,000 movies, television series, and documentaries available on Blu-Ray and DVD? Each week we receive a shipment of the latest blockbusters. Lots of television show seasons are coming to DVD this month, including Superstore Season 1, Shameless Season 6, The Walking Dead Season 6, and Scandal Season 5. TV series checkout for three weeks and may be renewed if there are no other patron requests. Check our online catalog at ofpl.info to place a hold on these upcoming releases!

Next time you visit the library, be sure to stop by the media wall in the marketplace area. Our new and express DVD shelves are stocked with the newest release movies, some of which are not even available at the movie rental kiosks or stores yet! Coming this month to the express shelf are God’s Not Dead 2, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, and Nice Guys starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling. Express movies check out for three days with a limit of two per card.

The Library now also has a new Binge Box collection. It is on point with the newest trend in movie and TV show watching. Each box has been carefully assembled to help you through a long rainy weekend or bad breakup. Each binge box contains a set of 5-15 movies centered on a specific theme, actor/actress, or character. Ready for some romance, heartache, and tears? Check out the Nicholas Sparks Collection, which includes eleven films based off of Sparks’ bestselling novels. How about comedies from some of Hollywood’s classic funny guys? Check out the PG-65 Collection, containing hits such as Grumpy Old Men, Space Cowboys, and Last Vegas. Do you have a suggestion for a binge box collection? E-mail your idea along with a list of movie titles to michael@ofpl.info.

If you don’t have a library card yet, now is the time to get one! If you live within O’Fallon city limits, just bring in a photo ID and current utility bill or piece with your name and address. Once issued, resident cards are valid for three years or until you move out of O’Fallon. Those living in Shiloh or outside of O’Fallon city limits may purchase a card at the same rate as taxpayers in O’Fallon. Call the Circulation Desk at 632-3783 to find out the cost of the non-resident card. Speaking of library cards, September is national library card month and the library has several contests and rewards planned for O’Fallon cardholders!  Stay tuned for more information.
