stack-of-books-1001655 RESIZEDAre you wanting to try Netflix or Amazon Prime without having to pay for a subscription? Check out a Roku at the library. We now have six rokus, all loaded with Netflix, Prime, PBS, and PBS Kids.  Each Roku also has access to the latest movie releases through the FandangoNOW app.  Rokus are simple to hook up to any television but do require a wireless internet connection.

Have you checked out the Cafe area at the library? We have all the food and beverages you need to help make your visit to the library comfortable.  Use the self-serve Keurig machine to make a hot cup of coffee, cappuccino, or tea. Add in your choice of sugar and creamer as well…all for just a dollar donation to the library.  Our snack and beverage vending machine is all new to the library.  20 different types of snacks including granola bars, crackers, and chocolate bars are available for either 75 cents or $1.00.  We also have a variety of kid-friendly snacks like goldfish, cookies, and fruit snacks.  Nine types of cold soda, tea, and juice are available for $1.25 per bottle.  We would like to thank the Friends of the O’Fallon Library for donating the new vending machine.

All proceeds from snack and beverages benefit the library.

The Friends of the Library are busy preparing for our fall book sales, which will be happening Saturday, October 22 from 9am-4pm, Sunday October 23 from 1pm-4pm, Saturday November 5 from 9am-4pm, and Sunday November 6 from 1pm-4pm.  All sorts of like new and gently used books, hardcovers, DVDs, CDs, and children’s items will be available for purchase at unbeatable prices.

Eager to help? The Friends are seeking volunteers to assist with setup and teardown for each sale. The biggest need is for strong, fit volunteers who can lift and move heavy boxes from our storage area to the sale room. If you can help, please sign-up on our website ofpl.info. The library is also able to accept book donations anytime we are open.  Simply bring them to the help desk and we will pass them on to the Friends! Please, do not place donated items in the outside book return.  Stay tuned next week for a special article about the Friends of the Library.
