O’FALLON – The O’Fallon Outlaws girls summer lacrosse team secured a couple of convincing wins in the scorching summer sun over the weekend, beating Columbia 13-1 before blanking Northwest High by a score of 15-0.
The games were played in a late morning sun that reached the mid-90’s, with a heat index that neared triple digits. This forced officials to allow extra water breaks in addition to the breaks for half-time.
The contests were the first of 11 games for the club this summer season, which also includes the Route 66 Tournament hosted in O’Fallon, and the Indian Prairie Showdown in Naperville, Illinois.
The first game was essentially over by halftime, as the Outlaws jumped out to a 7-0 lead, which was plenty of wiggle room considering they would go on to net 6 more goals in the second half en-route to a 13-1 win over Columbia.
The second contest featured an overpowering defense and an unstoppable offensive onslaught that resulted in 15 unanswered goals spread across two halves. This is the first of two consecutive match ups with Northwest High.
The Outlaws will continue their trek through the summer schedule and look to improve an already dominant goal differential with another contest against Northwest High at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, at the O’Fallon Public Safety Field on Seven Hills Road. They then have the holiday weekend open before a battle with the St. Louis Rush.
The Outlaws are a Ladies Select Lacrosse team which has seasons in the summer and fall, featuring players not only from OTHS, but from Belleville and Edwardsville schools as well.
