O’Fallon Police Department accepting applications for 2019 Youth Academy

O’FALLON – The O’Fallon Police Department is current accepting applications for the 2019 Youth Academy, which will be held June 24 through June 28, 2019.

The program is open to all students entering the eighth and ninth grades. This summer, the O’Fallon Police Department is hosting a summer Youth Academy at Carriel Jr. High, located at 451 North Seven Hills Road.

The Academy will allow young adults to see and experience a variety of aspects of First Responders, while operating in an environment of responsibility and self-discipline. There will be numerous tours to include The O’Fallon Public Safety Facility, St. Clair County Jail, Juvenile Detention Center, and Fire House #4.  The students will be certified in CPR and AED use. In addition, there will be presentations on Crime Scene Processing, Tactical Response Teams, and K-9.

Classes will begin promptly at 8 a.m. each day with a physical training session and end at 3:45 p.m. Attendance is required each day for the entire day. Lunch will be provided on several days, with the students bringing a sack lunch on the other days.

The class is limited to 20 Students and will fill quickly. Admission will be on a “first come, first serve” basis, with preference given to O’Fallon residents and students. There is a cost of $25 to be paid on the first day of the academy.

Prior conduct of the student will be a consideration for admission to this program
