OTHS Boys Bowling advances two individual bowlers to Sectionals

Donny Richards and Ryan Komm

The OTHS boys bowling team suffered a loss on Tuesday, January 15, by not qualifying for sectionals.

The Panthers finished in fifth place, only 23 pins away from advancing.

“The team was very disappointed in not returning to the state series. Donny and Ryan bowled well but it wasn’t enough to carry the team through a competitive regional. We’ll take a short break and be ready for the 2019-2020 season. The Panthers wish the Southwestern Conference teams that advanced ‘Good Luck’,” Coach Mike Imes said.

Two seniors on the team qualified to advance to sectionals as individual bowlers.

Donny Richards finished fifth overall with a six games series of 1,354 for an average of 225 for the day. Ryan Komm finished eleventh overall with a series of 1,320 for an average of 220.

Both Panthers bowled in sectionals on Monday, January 21, but both came short of advancing to state.

Although it was a tough blow for the seniors, spirits were high. They may not have finished as they hoped, but they had a great season trying!
