OTHS fielded three teams at the Panther Team Challenge, and the O’Fallon Gold Team managed the highest school score for the day, placing third in overall pins with 5939.
The Panthers would place fifth overall on the day once the afternoon’s Baker play was completed.
Hononegah would win the Team Challenge title, a recurring theme for the state power.
Rockford East took home second ahead of third place Harlem.
Southwestern Conference rival Belleville East would edge out OTHS for the region’s top spot, setting up what should be a thrilling conclusion to the already tight SWC race.
Mark Hoerner would produce the top individual performance for O’Fallon on the afternoon, placing ninth overall with a 620 series and a 206 average.
The duo of Eli Rosenberg and Andrew Orf finished a consecutive 24th and 25th, finishing just two pins apart from each other.
Rockford Auburn’s Matt Seigel rode a Game Two 253 to a first place 665 series, beating Harlem’s Dawson Jones by just one pin for the individual tournament crown.
“This was a good tournament for us to kind of take a breath and just focus on ourselves,” Head Coach Mike Imes said. “The past couple of matches we’ve bowled really well but just got beat. So this is a good place for us to focus on controlling what we can and let the rest go from there.”
The Panthers will now focus on their upcoming trip north to Rockford, an annual venture for O’Fallon under Imes that allows his team to measure up against more of Illinois’ top programs.
“We need to test ourselves against the top teams so that we can find out what it takes to be among them,” Imes added. “We need to be ready for them come the postseason.”
