soccer ball - generic RESIZEDO’FALLON – As the calendar continues to count deeper into September and closer to Fall, the OTHS Boys Soccer team treads on through a tough Southwestern Conference gauntlet.

Their most recent triumph came on the road against heated rival Belleville East. The Panthers were all over the Lancers in this one, scoring early and often in a convincing 5-1 rout in Belleville.

Junior Nathan Martin tallied a goal and an assist, while fellow juniors Adrean Love (one goal) and Mason Macias (one assist) also contributed to the scoring. Sophomore Jordan Ellis found the back of the net as well, while seniors Aris Cesa and Preston Porter each scored goals of their own. Cesa would add three assists to go along with his goal total, giving him by far the best performance of the evening.

Lancer senior Terrance Puribhat scored the lone East goal in the first half, as the Panther defense was simply too much for an overpowered offense.

“This is a solid win for us tonight,” Head Coach Jason Turkington said after the game. “These guys continue to get better every day.”

The match against the Lancers would serve as a tune-up for the 62nd Annual CYC/Bob Guelker Soccer Tournament played in Fenton, Missouri. The Panthers represent the only Southwestern Conference program in the tournament.

O’Fallon’s first game of the tournament took place on Tuesday against (St. Louis) Vianney. The match went final after this issue went to print. OTHS will play again on Wednesday against (St. Louis) St. Mary’s, and then again on Thursday against (St. Louis) Chaminade.

The top four points will advance to bracket play starting on Friday, with the title game being played the following evening. Games start at 6 o’clock each day, and are played at St. Louis Soccer Park in Fenton.
