Panther track finally tastes gold at state

O’Fallon Township High School senior Christopher Conrad tasted silver in the 800 meter a year ago. For the future Missouri Tiger and his retiring coach, it wasn’t enough.

Conrad crossed the finish line at 1:49.91, beating his personal best by roughly four seconds, en route to winning the Class 3A Illinois State Championship, missing out on the state record by just two tenths of a second.

The senior’s time was also good for number three in the nation.
