The O’Fallon boys golf team finished strong on round two of the Southwestern Conference tournament held on Tuesday, September 25th at Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville. The Panthers shot a 307, just three strokes behind Edwardsville’s 304.
The new format of the Southwestern Conference included a two day tournament, dropping dual matches this year. Round one of the tournament took place on August 27th at Stonewolf golf course. The Panthers shot 321 in round one, combining with a 307 on day two, the team finished with a 628 and second place in the Southwestern Conference. Edwardsville finished in first place with a 615, Belleville East finished in third with a 696, Collinsville finished fourth with a 725, Belleville West was fifth, coming in at 758, and Alton was last with a 803.
Logan Lowery was the individual conference champion, carding a two day score of 148. Following a round one score of 75, Lowery had a one stroke lead in the conference. He held that lead and shot 73 on round two to earn medalist honors, four strokes ahead of Parker Griffiths from Edwardsville. The Panthers had three individuals finish in the top of the conference. Caden Cannon shot a combined score of 156 (80-76) to finish in fourth place. Taylor Patterson finished in eighth place with a combined score of 161 (82-79).
The O’Fallon boys golf team will end their regular season with a trip to Bloomington to play in the Arnie’s Cup at the Den at Fox Creek on Saturday, September 29th. The Panthers will host the IHSA Regional tournament at Tamarack Golf Course on Tuesday, October 2nd.
