Nine-year-old Elliot Mason and Shannan Schoemaker of O’Fallon stopped by Gator’s Frozen Custard on Monday to take part in National Frozen Custard Day. Also pictured is Gator’s employee Emma DeRousse. Similar to ice cream, frozen custard is made with eggs in addition to cream and sugar. Adding egg yolks to ice cream created a smoother texture and helped the ice cream stay cold longer.
