Rough waters for Panthers swimming

The O’Fallon Boys Swimming headed to Chatham-Glenwood High School last Saturday, where they would ultimately place third for the afternoon.

The Medley Relay of Max Gibbs, Yanni Guskey, Jake Howey, and Michael Meyer placed first. Meyer also placed first in the 100 backstroke for the day. Max Gibbs, Michael Meyer, Adam Mueller, and Yanni Guskey turned in top three finishes for O’Fallon in other styles.

Earlier in the week, the swim team competed at Edwardsville on Thursday. That match-up would prove less than positive, as the Panthers lost to Edwardsville by 27 points.

“The athletes fought hard throughout the meet,” Coach Kim Eddy said. She also went on to say that many of the swimmers dropped time in their events, so that’s always a positive note to look to.

First place finishes came from Max Gibbs in the 200 Individual Medley and Michael Meyer in the 100 freestyle and 100 back. Adam Mueller, current school record holder, and EJ Wilder competed in the diving portion of the meet for O’Fallon. Mueller placed second and Wilder placed third.

The Panthers were supposed to return to the Eisenhower Pool on January 28, but that meet has been cancelled according to the school’s website, so the Panthers next swim meet will take place on February 11 back at Chatham-Glenwood High School at 12:30 p.m.
