Shiloh honors a Revolutionary patriot

SHILOH – The Belleville chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution unveiled their latest memorial to American Patriots at Shiloh Valley Cemetery on Saturday afternoon, dedicating a cenotaph for Private Larkin Rutherford of Colonel George Rogers Clark’s Illinois Regiment.

Pvt. Rutherford was a part of the force that captured Fort Sackville in Vincennes from British forces in February of 1779, arresting Governor Henry Hamilton and renaming the fortress Fort Patrick Henry in the process.
