Shirlee Ord Pearson
August 18, 1929 – March 12, 2017

Shirlee Ord Pearson, nee Kerwith, age 87, of O’Fallon, Ill., born August 18, 1929 in Seattle, Wash., passed away peacefully Sunday night, March 12, 2017 at The Colonnade in O’Fallon, surrounded by those she loved.

As a child Shirlee lived in Seattle, and moved with her parents to Montreal, Canada where she attended high school.  When the family moved to California, she attended and graduated from San Jose State College with a B.A. in Art.  While there, she became active in Delta Zeta Sorority and continued that affiliation for many years.  It was also at college that she fell in love and married Edward Ord.  Their only child, Minnetta, was born in northern California, where they lived for some time.

While living in northern California the family learned to sail on San Francisco Bay.  They continued to sail when they moved to Newport Beach in southern California.  As a homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, gourmet cooking, decorating and keeping an elegant home.

After her marriage with Edward ended, and while in southern California, Shirlee met and married Robert Pearson.  They eventually moved to O’Fallon where she continued to enjoy cooking, gardening, and decorating, as well as the local arts and supporting charitable causes.  In O’Fallon she joined the local PEO Chapter LJ, which afforded her the opportunity to share her gifts and to cultivate many strong friendships.

Surviving are her husband of 37 years, Robert H. Pearson, of O’Fallon; her beloved daughter Minnetta (Bill Stobbe) May-Stobbe of Folsom, Calif., her grandsons Nelson (Juju) May of San Francisco, Calif., and Andy May of Folsom, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her former husband Edward O.C. Ord, IV, and her parents Anthony William and Mary Grace, nee Soutter, Kerwith.
